  • CV leakage after 2" lift

hi guys first time post here,i have a 97 prado stock and the standard suspension was shot so after alot of ready and research into different brands i went and bought a RAW 4x4 2" lift kit and installed it over the weekend.
today was the first day of driving and have noticed the steering feels a little different but after getting home i stuck my head under for a look and noticed the cv boot on both sides closest to the diff seams to have this grey looking grease coming out its not excessive and doesnt smell like diff oil at all but i was just wondering if this is a concern?all feedback and any help would be great cheers

Yes you will need to reclamp the boots. This is fairly common and Ive had it happen on three prados including the latest 120 I have. Nothing serious BUT do have the clamps done other wise firstly your spinning that shit every where including possibility of it getting onto brake pads, also if its leaking out it means there is less and less inside the cv boot which will eventually run it dry BUT also if you dunk the front end you will also end up with water in there.... I had mine done by my mechanic cost me $60 for them to use the original metal clamps. A really good quality thick cable tie will get you out of trouble if you don't have time and for a quick fix but wouldn't guarantee a 100% seal with cable tie......saying that plenty of people who have done this and still on there after a fair time eg years lol....Cheers Steve

If its only splattered a tad I wouldn't worry as that shit when it flicks around looks like you have lost a crap load, bit like auto or power steer fluid.. If you have it and could be bothered then certainly no harm in sticking some back in but I have never bothered with any 3 of mine and never had CV issues but in saying that the maximum one of mine was driven was about 40k before I had a new tie put on it, the others were about 16k.......Cheers Steve
