  • Turbo boost - what's yours set at

    Hi all,

I had a adjustable boost controller on the 80 series and liked how the engine went with a few extra PSI. I am thinking about putting one on the Prado and wanted to ask if anyone has done this and what's yours set to.

    Ben

Forgot to add, my engine is stock, except for 3" exhaust, KN filter and chip.

    Bit quiet hey?

I placed one in along with all the gauges and egr whatchamacallits and dooglthangs....

played with it gently and all seemed weird?

turns out depending on model of engine...mine is a CT20 turbo not a CT26 etc....mine has a max of 10lbs aroundabout...so no rela gain what so ever but good news is apprantly the ct20 spools up quicker without obvious low down lag...the 26 will have a small amount of lag possibly but may have a top lbs of aROUND 13LBS BUGGER CAPS LOCK!

So in all reality from what ive found the ct20 is the best turbo for the job running around the bush.....if you want a higher pressure turbo then change it for higher rev range gains eg: hwy...

All of the above was lots of research but still I may be very wrong and will look at this post for changes and corrections....so if you like around 10lbs from the stock ct20 turbo then your laughing....that about it I think

      Thanks for the reply bags,

I will need to chek out what my turbo is, was not aware there were two different ones fitted.

I think it would really benefit from a few extra PSI.

      Thanks

It's a live fuel average.. I was giving it a decent touch up around town, too see how the boost would spike..

Highest I've seen on the scangauge is 14.7psi. Has anyone got a mechanical gauge as well as the scangauge II? I'd be interested to hear how close they read.

Setup the scangage today and at around 2500rpm I'm reaching 20psi.. Does that seem to high?
