Hey all bought a Dobinson lift for my prado. Got a call from the suspension crowd fitting it asked me to grind part of the ball joint out to fit my 45mm lift. Is this right? The guys in the garage said they have never seen this before. I told them not to do it. They said when the spring bottoms out it will hit the housing. Can this be right? I told them to put the original back and to see if I shorter spring exists. Really pissed off now! #### me!!!!!!!!!!

WTH are you kidding me. Id be collecting my vehicle really quickly and not letting them touch it again. I know virtually zilch about suspension but grinding part of the ball joint away to fit another part sounds totally wrong to me, and these guys are professionals are they ?? .......Im sure my thoughts will be conformed or I may be totally wrong...........Cheers SteveFace lift 150 Prado V6 auto. The spring needs to be rotated BUT it shouldn't matter with a 45mm lift. Go somewhere else. Now.My 150 build - http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?27423-A-Random-approach-to-a-Bluestorm-150-GXL-D4D-automatic

I hope you asked them to cut your brake lines, top up your oil with valve grinding paste, and undo the nuts on your steering rod while they're at it.
What a bunch of complete f#$kwits they are. NEVER walk through the door of that place again for anything.
If they are a "big chain" as you say, then complain to the store owner, if that doesn't work complain to the area manager, then state manager, and so on and so on 'til you reach someone who does something about these retards.
Cheers

All this mean's is, if the UCA can touch the coil, or even near it, you risk the upper ball joint binding up & breaking.
Also that much travel, carry spare c/v shafts.

bloody thing
I[QUOTE=#############;417985]It's definitely a problem with hiluxes, for some reason, some manufacturers of aftermarket suspension, give the 2005+ Hilux a silly amount of travel.

I'm doing it myself next time sorry i don't have any photos. But will do it myself now. I'll get .iron man gear instead. .il get a compressor for springs.
