  • Upper ball joints

Has anyone replaced these themselves? Do I need any special tools, presses or splitters? Or will a gas torch and big hammer, with a decent breaker bar and sockets, do the job?

    Hi there.

They are a bit of a bugger to do, as you need to support all around underneath the Ball Joint on the arm so you don't bend or break the arm.

If you can find a big enough socket or piece of pipe to support it, you might be able to bash it through. we have only ever pressed them out.

    Regards, Jason.

I would only ever press them out, less work to do it, even if you pull the arms out your self and take them to a suspension specialist or your mechanic, the cost of them to press the old one out and press the new one in is very small
