  • Bulb replacement ARB Deluxe Bar

Hi Friends. Does anyone know how to replace bulbs for fog and parking lights in an ARB Deluxe Bullbar? Pulled some of the panels off underneath and still can't reach into the bar far enough to be able to get to the bulbs???. Must be an easier way that pulling the bar off. Do the plastic inserts pull out from the front? Didn't want to force just in case they don't.

Hi, I have read through the post from D4D - very interesting thanks! In saying that I too, would like to know if there is an easy way to get to the park/indicator bulbs in the ARB Deluxe Bar to replace the blown bulbs or do I have to remove a whole bunch of stuff to get to it. If anyone has some tips on how to do this it would be much appreciated!

Does anyone know what bulb type is needed for replacing the park lights in this ARB bar on the 120?

      Thanks
      Wardos

When I replaced my bulbs with LEDs I simply opened the bonnet, reached inside with a small cross head screwdriver and remove the light units. I guess it helps that I have long arms

It also depends on what vintage your bar is. I have to take the metal bracket out before I can get to the indicator/parker sub-assembly.

            Hi,
            Thanks for the replies.
I had a look at mine and there is not very much space to maneuver in there at all. I was unable to directly see the back of the lighting assembly which makes it kind of difficult to locate any screws. The only other way I can think of is to unbolt all the bash plate around the bar and get in from under the vehicle - but this seems like a lot of effort to replace a bulb (not complaining just observation). Is it necessary to unscrew the whole lighting assembly to get to the bulbs or does each bulb undo by hand and contained in a bulb holder at the back like the headlight/parks/indicator of the Prado main lights do?
            Thanks
            Wardos.

My ARB bar would have been purchased between 2010-2011ish - not sure if that is any help. I am not the original owner unfortunately, do not have the paper work..

Unfortunately, the bulbs go in from the front so you have to remove the whole light unit. It can be done by feel - there are two screws, one at each end of the assembly and they go in from the rear. You could just take of the side bash plates to get to them.

I found it very easy to do from above without removing the plates but then, I did fit the bar myself so was totally familiar with the layout.

I'm in the process of doing mine. You have to take the side wing bash plates off to access the rear of the light. After unplugging the light from the front you need to remove the long adjustment screw. Note there is a spring behind it so be sure you don't lose it. From the back of the bar there are two plastic tabs holding the light in. Push the inner one towards the chassis and remove the light. Once the light is out there are two screws and it will come apart. The globe is a 55w H3 globe. Autobarn, Super Cheap are about $30 to $120 for a set of two. I purchased two on line for $2.95. Don't expect to be of much quality but thought to give the a go for half the price of a coffee.

Sorry for the poor quality but this is the back of the unit showing one of the screws to give you an idea of what they are like. The screws are semi-captive in the unit so you shouldn't drop them if you are careful.

Obviously this applies to the parker and indicator bulbs - the fog light is to the left in the photo. Never had to replace that but then, in WA it's never used.

Thanks heaps Trekrider and Hazza! Your info confirms what I was thinking needs to be done. I will attempt firstly to remove it from the top without unbolting the side bash plate, failing that bash plate will have to come off.
                      Cheers for the tips!

                        Hey Hazza

My park bulbs have blown as well. They must use some cheapies mate. I will check out Supercheap.
                        Thanks for the tip...
