  • No brake lights

Hi all after looking through 39 pages of threads could not find one on no brake lights

Anyway my brake lights are not working.. Realised the problem after trying to fix the transmission lever not moving without pushing the shift lock.

Checked the stop fuse under the bonnet and that is ok.

I can push the override button on my red arc brake controller and the brake lights then work.

I am guessing it may be something to be with the trailer wiring as everything else looks ok.

    Has anyone any ideas.

    Thanks

    Geoff

      Fuse is blown. refer http://www.pradopoint.com/archive/in.../t-22015.html?

There may be more than one that is blown so check under the bonnet and inside the car. Replace the fuse and then troubleshoot your trailer problem.

1.) check all fuse with a test light.
2.) if all are ok replace your stop light switch.

If you say,,, I can push the override button on my red arc brake controller and the brake lights then work... Then the brake light globes and wiring is ok,, I would say the brake light switch on the brake pedal is not working. The contacts inside wear out, I have changed a couple of them at work.

Replaced the brake light switch in about 10 seconds and hey presto. Brake lights working again.

Picked up the switch from Galleria Toyota for $74. Same thing at Big Rock Toyota was $89. Pays to ring around sometimes.

                Thanks again.
