    Hi All,

Has anyone here blocked the egr on a 150 prado diesel and were there any adverse effects? ie. throwing fault codes etc.

Mine's done 5000kays and it'd be nice to stop the intake side getting gummed up.

    Cheers

Have a search on this site and you'll find the answer... bottom line, don't do it as it will throw codes.

        Thanks for the replies,

        Hi Sean,

Any change in the way it drives? Any torque increase from removing the throttle plate?

I did search but all the threads seem to be about the 120 series not the 150, and there was a lot of discussion but not much action.

I'm guessing I'd have to remove the egr plate and reinstall the throttle plate for the 40000 kay service (valve clearances) so as not to void warranty.

        Cheers

The only noticable difference is when the engine is turned off, it seems more abrupt on shut down.
We have also tried drilling a 12mm hole in the butterfly on another vehicle, but it is still bringing up codes (po400).
This vehicle shuts down the same as mine.
Personally I would leave it out , I dont think some of the hot shot technicians would even register it was missing......
I couldn't notice any power difference but I had also taken my chip off for a couple off weeks.

For those who want a full blank, this how it's done.
You will have to put up with a rougher shut down. Small price to pay.
I have not done this yet. Removing the throttle valve plate stops egr draw.
It should also work with a small hole in blank plate.
But theory as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks #### for doing mine the other week.
I watched you do a full 4 hour job, no way would I have tackled that on my own.
Any reduction of soot entering the engine is a winner and I know you have monitored yours for a good number of Kms and the results prove it.
Why do manufactures do this to an engine? That's because its a cheap way to achieve environmental compliances and engine life is not an issue to them.
As for catch cans, like you I believe a little bit of oil entering the intake is a good thing as long as it is clean so no catch can for me.
Looking forward to the next couple of oil changes and seeing a cleaner dipstick.
