installing the compressor and lockers in those 3 spacers near the gear stick. does that count?

In that case sounds like a plug not installed properly.

Also are you aware of the 2 sets of fuses? one lot under the bonnet and the other on the right of the steering column.

          Cheers Andrew

There's a large plug that is secured with an M6 screw. It's likely this connector that is loose.

I have had the same thing happen, but thought that I put it back together properly.

Sorry to drag up an old thread - but where is this plug? Pictures, pretty, pretty please!

OK mostly worked it out, turns out I loosened the main wiring harness 10MM bolt, now have clock and stereo. But not displaying the temp.

                    Thoughts?

If you removed the centre panel ie radio, heater, temperature panels then
you will need to remove again and check all plugs are in as it would appear at
                      least one isn't.

Also regarding the radio plug, from memory it doesn't do up tight just slips.
I would remove the plug, check the pins then plug back in, make sure you
push on the assembly as you do it up to ensure it seats properly.

Yeah, got the stereo working, but I reckon it is one of the "left over" screws that I didn't re-install because they were so fiddly - so must be one of them that makes the ground connection.

Joy - the only issue in doing that is the temp selector jumps out of the clip (manual temp) and is a bugger to put back in, and get the console back together!

Might give it a go next weekend...

OK, everything working again - was the M6 bolt that holds the wiring harness. Loosened it, but didn't remove the bolt.

That is a non-obvious ground connection!
