  • central locking....doors

    Hi Prado enthusiasts!
I would like to know if anyone else has experienced the same as the following and what the remedy is...
my 2002 prado...... the central locking of the doors is playing up. its not a remote central locker, as its operated using the key in the door

One day as i was driving the central locking kept clicking. that day i couldnt lock the doors from the drivers door with the key...had to do it from passenger door. this successfully locked all doors
BUT when i came back to my car after a long day in the classroom, the doors were all unlocked!!!
I thought I was going mad but it has happened the same way 3 times since.

Also, one night I heard the car ( named Seymour) clicking rhythmically and the central locking was clicking as was all the dash lights. In the morning Seymour's battery was F L A T.

Is it fuses??? is it battery strength?? is it the wiring of the central lock system??

Any ideas or stories of what may be happening and why and what the remedy is would be greatly appreciated!!!!
    thank you all
    Cheers
    bev

Mine (also a 2002 model) does exactly the same, and its been a common problem in the past. From memory the fix is quite expensive and parts are probably no longer available anyway, but I've found that if I lock via the back door it resets everything and I'm good to go for a few more months. I recently went down south and was sitting beside my vehicle in Peaceful Bay listening to it clicking away, so I "reset" it again and no problems since. Hopefully the same procedure will work for you.

In Internet culture, a lurker is a member of an online community who does not actively participate. Lurkers make up a large proportion of all users in online communities. Lurking allows users to learn the conventions of an online community before they actively participate, improving their socialization when they eventually de-lurk.

        Good luck de-lurking.
