  • Fitted IPF's now ABS light on and no speedo

I took my ipf's off my 06 hilux and fitted them to the 08 prado. I checked out the thread on pos/neg switching and stuffed if it made any sense to me, auto electrical work has never been a strong point for me. I ended up pulling the headlight plugs and trying different combinations of wiring into the plug till I got the spotties to work properly with hi beam and seperate switch, crude I know but I got them working. I did disconnect the battery when I started but to test I hooked it back up, then while testing I shorted it out and had to replace the 10A headlight fuse. At one point I couldn't work out why the lights were'nt working and started pulling relays and trying to swap them, I think it was just that the lights were unplugged, I embarrass myself sometimes. Anyway once it was done the ABS light and park brake light stayed on. I did a search on here last night and apparrently 'ABS' is too short to search so after about 12 pages of searching 'warning' I found it may need to reset itself at 40km/h. Headed for town this morning, 200km round trip and the engine light came on at start up and the speedo didn't work. Pulled all the fuses in town, all good but the engine light did turn off, speedo no go and abs/park brake light still on. At home disconnected the battery for 20 mins but still the same. Sorry for the long post but I figure if I cover all the stupid stuff I've done maybe someone has dealt with some or all of this before.
    Thanks

Spoke with service foreman at Toyota today, it could be that I pulled the plug on the speedo cable. Will check it out tomorrow, hopefully it's that simple.

Turns out that a rock or stick must have flicked up and cut the speed sensor cable to one of the rear wheels, I'm guessing it cut part way through and eventually worked its way apart and just by coincidence happened to separate the day I fitted my lights as thats when the fault showed up. Soldered it up and she's apples.
