  • New Chip It chip & Lukey Muffler Getting Fitted.

Well i've taken the plunge and the rig is going in tommorrow to get a Lukey straight through muffler fitted.
Then on Nov 5th it goes in to have it's "Chip it" chip installed & get dyno tuned.

While i was up at the the local chip it distributers shop this morning a customer of his pulled up with an identical car to mine who had a chip it & (std exhaust) fitted on his, he threw me his key and said lets go for a drive in mine so you can see. Bloody hell what a difference it made on his, it was so much more responsive and pulled really well up hills.
I'm really looking forward to the 5th right now.

I mentioned to him about the PP discount we can get from Rob on the unit and he said he'll sort it out and organize that for me so i can still get it while ordering it through him.

His av fuel was reading 11.4 l/100 and he just finished towing his 2 ton van up from brissy, he said before that he was using around 17. My ave atm is about 9.4 so i'm keen to see the difference it makes there too. To be honest i wouldn't care if it didn't even change, or even went up because that extra power is great!!

Many thanks to those involved all the good exhaust threads on PP for helping me decide on what exhaust option to go with.

That test drive has really got me pumped about the whole thing right now. I'll keep you guys posted on how things go.

    Cheers
    James

Apparently a stocking over the camera lens come renewal time does help hide slight imperfections. Although never seemed to help the mother-in-law ...... come to think of it ..... Beth, is that you?

Well just picked the car up from the exhaust bloke, he did a nice tidy job. It doesn't seem to much louder at all which is good, it's just a bit more throaty and feels like it's breathing better down low.
He said that in his opinion they've got a pretty good factory system on them, and have a well flowing dump pipe.
He recons the only thing he would possibly do is go a high flow cat & then it would be a bloody good system, he showed me the one he suggested and said he'd put it in for me for under $200.
So guess what.... its booked in and getting a cat the morning before it goes in for the chip.

                Cheers

Harrisons Mechanical Services 54913199 40 Ulm St Caloundra, he's a "carline exhausts" franchise also. He is a nice down to earth sort of bloke, and he & his son do a bit of stock car racing and he builds all their cars. He seems to be fairly swithed on & isn't out to rob you.

                    Cheers

Will do Matt, if i get some spare time i'll slip it in & get it done sooner as i'd like to see the difference before the chip goes in, but worst case i'll take it for a quick blat between the cat going in and dropping it off for the chip on the 5th.

The funny thing is, one exhaust mob told me that getting the cat done was a pain in the ass on the 150 but this bloke said it would be a piece of cake with where it is and the room he has to work with. I guess that just speaks to him being honest and being prepared to have a go without trying to milk you for more $ in labour.

                        Cheers

Jayden unfortunately i had to head down south and have been away for a bit, i've only been back home for a few days now so i have to re-book the car in to get it done when i get a spare minute. But i'll let you know once it's booked in.
Thats if i can pry the keys back from the wifes hands. Over the last month she's been driving it a fair bit and tells me that she's swapped cars with me.
I don't think her gay lexus will make it up the beach though so she's got a rude shock coming lol.
