  • Extra cooling fan for fridge. How to switch.

Hi I have installed one of those little computer type 12volt fans to cool the condensor on my waeco. I have a draw system close to the fridge and it restricts the air flow a little so I have fitted this to help with this as the fridge is using more power since I fitted the draws. Problem is with it running all the time it defeats the purpose a bit as it draws more current running constantly. What I want to do is set it up so it only it only runs when the compressor is running but don't want to interfer with the fridge itself. Any ideas would be great. Hope someone with a bit on electronic ability can help. I'm not sure if it would work but an idea I had was to have a Hall effect swich on the power supply to the fridge so it would switch on the fan when current was being drawn?

      Hi.
without knowing the internals of the fridge I would suggest to run the fan in parallel to the compressor.
Simply connect the fan with plus and minus of the compressor.
As soon as the compressor is powered the fan is powered as well, if the compressor is off so should be the fan.

      Regards
      Michael
