  • Front Shock lower eye bushes

Did a Family members 95 Series a couple of weeks ago & was shocked to see the lower bushes when we pulled the front struts out.
Mine had done 225,000kms on the originals with a fair bit of offroading in the last 50,000kms or so & were nowhere near this bad.
This car had done 175,000kms, with very little offroad use ever.

Yes you can buy just the bush but with 175000 on the shock why would you. Would be better to buy a new shock

Interesting issue. I've got a 120 series. Upgraded to Bilstein shocks and the front lower bushes lasted less than 20K. Most of the driving done was highway apart from about 1K on pretty ordinary dirt tracks. Bilstein were pretty good about this and refunded the cost of the replacement bushes and labour to fit them. I have wondered if anyone else has had this problem with the front bushes lasting an unbelievably short time?

Yeh! I'v got Tough Dog set up on my 90 and found the same prob. When it was pulled out,the bush was practicly gone and had started to flog out the metal in the eye of the shock,so the shocky was stuffed.
The only way that I knew that it was a problem ,is that it was making a loud squeek, and we just happend to be away for the weekend out at Abbercrombi NP,so over the trip i just squerted WD in there when ever it started to squeek and it wasn't a prob.I was serprised to see the damage to shock considering there was no knocking sound at all.
It would have been a lot worse out on some coregated road in the midle of no were.
Some thing to look in to before a long trip.
          Cheers Teza.

            Hi,

Most of the bush coming with rubber material, normally will not last long.
The best is change to teflon bush that can last more longer.
