  • Headlights not switching off automatically

Hi, just had to take our 1998 Prado down to jump start our 120 series vx, Wife left the lights on. The earlier model has an audible beep when lights left on and keys removed to remind you to switch off. I looked at the 120 series manual which advises that if lights left on they switch off when drivers door opens and keys are in the off position, ours does not, hence the flat battery. Are there other settings that I'm missing to get the correct function working, or should i take it to our local dealer?

Sorry for hi jacking, but closest thread I could find to suit my problem, without starting a new one...

Just wired up some Genisis HIDs in my 120, and I have a small problem..

Turn headlights ON = lights come on
Turn HIDs to ON.. = nothing
Push light/indicator stalk forward to high beam= lights on high beam , and HIDs ON..
Pull light/indicator stalk back , = everything drops to low beam

Turn lights off at indicator stalk ( twist off) = lights turn off... But HIDs turn ON

I followed the instructions ( well I think I did ) ... Only one brown wire that splices into headlight wiring.. Headlight has 3 wires coming out...

    What have I done wrong???

You have possibly picked your high beam signal up of the wrong wire. drop into a auto electrician and get them to check it out for you.

Is the door light coming on the dash when only the drivers door is open? The lights off function is triggered from the drivers door switch.

              Hey guys,

I've just come across this issue with my Prado. Was this issued resolved? or can someone point me to a thread relating to this issue.

              Cheers, Ethan
