  • 95 Series Rear Upper Trailing Arm replacement

Hi all, we did a lift on our resident KZJ95R a few weeks ago (pics coming soon). It has had a small wobble in the rear end in the last 2 months or so & everything looked ok from underneath upon inspection with the car up on a 4 post hoist. When we were doing the lift on the car when we released the lower shock bolts & let the weight of the rear diff hang off the Trailing Arms & we found the wobble.
-The rear upper trailing arm bushes opened up on full extension down & you could see a gap between the bushes & the arms.
We ordered New Complete arms out of Toyota for it & only got around to replacing them last night.
The pics are below of the old and new parts.
-We put the old arms on the bench & gave the bushes a bit of a flex to simulate the arms being twisted up in the car & that's when the bush opens up & you can see the play in it.

Ours has 225,000kms on it & realising that the 95 Series Wagons are getting on a bit, we have been doing some serious digging into alternate options for them.

-These arms are only available from Toyota as complete units, the bushes are not purchasable separately & this is what has prompted us to look at alternates.
-We have sourced some bushes & are going to do our old arms as a test dummy set to replace the bushes in them so hopefully everyone won't have to endure the same expense as we did on our own.

As for the replacement itself, it is relatively easy only taking 20-40 minutes to do the whole job depending on what equipment you have available to use.

    Regards, Jason.

Hi Brissy, have sold a few sets of them now and they have been really good. Have had a few people breaking arms recently as they get older & I am going to look at an upgraded stronger arm setup soon if I can find the right person to make it for me. Regards, Jason.

            Wholesale sell these uppers http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TOYOTA-PR...-/282025297614

Not sure what Jason is offering these days at Sydney Suspension but I'll let him know about this thread.

I'm also selling upper links, made from Chromoly and adjustable. They're available in a Heavy Duty ~$350 and Ultra Heavy Duty ~$450 versions. Both are superior in strength to the originals, but I took the ultras a step further with even larger/thicker tube and competition-grade chromoly heim joints which allow much more flex - perfect for vehicles running 80 series gear. I'll put them on ebay soon but for a better deal PM me in here, or for a faster response on Facebook www.facebook.com/glenep.4x4
