  • Voltage Booster ! ( does anyone use one )

Has anyone used or does anyone use one of these? Had any problems ? Or are they just a gimmick?

Yep I've got one in my 90 series and it boosts the alternator out put by .8V. Doesn't sound like much but it makes a noticeable difference to how quickly the batteries charge. I reckon they are well worth the money. Have had mine for 18 months and no problems.
    Cheers, Ben.

If you have a D4D motor they work well.

Same here. They work well. One of the best modifications I have made $ for $ value wise. Along with my $150 exhaust system

It reduces your charging times, even better when running AGM's. I made mine, If you are good with a soldering iron you can make your own for less than $5.

Yep, I use one and get about .7 Volt increase in alternator output. I recommend you get one.

                        Hi all,

The device can be used on any make of vehicle that requires a boost in voltage as long as you
either have a fuse in the alternator sense lead (only used for this purpose and not shared with
other devices) or can fit one. On many vehicles without a fuse the alternator sensing wire runs
directly to the positive battery terminal and will be a small wire either bolted to terminal or crimped
in with the stater and power cable. In these vehicles it is a simple proceedure to install a fuse holder.

I'm also looking at making a unit for use with shared circuits, if there is enough demand but this unit would
differ in that it would consist of a fuse type plug connected to a small module containing a higher power rating
diode/fuse combo for use with specific vehicles.

I'm also looking at the possibility of a new booster, this unit will be a polarised unit (mini blade only) but would incorporate a self resetting fuse so that unit won't need to be replaced in the event of a fault developing in the charging
                        circuit.

This will be several months away though if at all though.

                        Cheers
