  • Sprint Booster For 6 Speed?

    Hi,
Have been looking at installing a sprint booster module on my 6 speed and was wondering if anyone with the same gear box has had this done? A search of the forum suggests that others have been looking at them but not yet installed? My main concern is will it be too responsive and burn out the clutch? Ill be carring quite some weight once the rig is up and running and was looking at this for a little extra performance.

    Hey mate,
As an agent for the sprint booster's we have not heard of any dramas with clutches or anything else for that matter. I have sold plenty of these and have one installed in my ML triton. I have had mine in for around 2 years now and my clutch is still going strong. The great thing with the sprint booster is it can be adjusted for your driving style etc. I run mine on the green setting on the bitumen and when i hit the sand it goes onto the red setting for the extra throttle response.

If you have any other queries just let me know.

$312 for a device that reduces the amount of input needed on the accelerator, between idle, and full throttle?

        You are kidding - right?

Sounds like an expensive solution to a problem that doesn't exist..

          stevensr34,

i think because i have got a very responsive donk, vertually stock... as per build up .
the product has merit if you like to feed the throttle and drive the prado around nice flat , country dirt roads.
feeding the throttle . to match your vechile mods. that 1/2 sec. delay is the difference between you and a grey gum.....and a dent,

the fact that your family is in the car is the difference.. , doesnt mean their isnt mods out there that cant have a positive applicatiion to the prado's...

evan with my set up............. i have had the awd front , understeer , and let go ,,,.... I kept the power on and it gathered traction with in a split sec... scary if you like to drive a a.w.d 4x4 , v6 , 6 speed man at a minimum 0f 3400/r.p.m to its limits on nice country dirt.. so to me it has a nice value to money factor because of how i drive the v6.. P.S i'm chasing more cold air options too..... too, stay tuned..... with time the exhaust will need replacin' , so then it will be using more fuel/ air and going twice as hard,,,,,,, cold air is a must for me ,, the after all at 300 buck's for a pedal harness will compliment the mickey' T's ATZ's at the pressure's i like ...

futher more i like the option on the three settings , simple stuff... economy , ---- , v6- extra grunt... nothing to loose if you ask me......

some people speend 300 dollars on joggers , i live in my work boots and pay top dollar to run this rig on '98 shell.... it is a blast to drive.... love my rig... food for thought , cheers mate , butane

Well after putting all my bar work on and having the wagon fully loaded it is a bit slower on the take up when moving from a stationary position. Once the turbo goes to work shes away with no delay. Im looking at that initial throttle response from a standing start. My opinion is if it does improve this then is a far lot cheaper than a plug and play chip!

            Cheers,
