  • UK vs. AUS Engine. Why is their diesel 140kW

Anyone know why the UK Prado (Landcruiser asits called there) is a 140kW engine rather than our127kW?

Has it always been or did they come up with a facelift engine at some point?

Is this somethig we're likely to see here?

    My 2009 UK LC4 is 127kw. Facelift engine around 2011 I think.

        That would be 170hp
2008 Diesel Prado with extra stuff added. I drive it on the road and other places too.

Probably because our diesel is shit in Aus compared to Euro Diesel, hence the motors are detuned for out crap fuel. I think we run higher Sulfur content in our diesel than euro. Im not 100% on this so dont quote me as gospel!

                    Ryzz

Not sure whether our crap cetane spec of 46 or better explains everything that's a fair difference 127 vs 140

Compared to our Aussie Prados, the UK Prado has +13kW and +10Nm. Whilst more is (nearly) always better, it doesn't seem like much of a difference; just a slight tuning?

Given a fairly expensive chip will improve things from 127 to 150kw and 410 to 495Nm, I'm guessing it wouldn't take much effort for Toyota to squeeze out an extra 13kW and 10Nm, regardless of fuel quality.

What does the UK specs list for fuel economy? The Aussie D4D A/T Prado list 8.5L combined, 10.6L (urban), 7.3L (extra).

But in reality we don't achieve those numbers for fuel economy more like 10L combined, 12L (urban), 8L (extra).

The 5 door Prado in the UK misses out on the long range tank and has a towing capacity of 3000kg.

I think Toyota Australia is going down the path of being conservative. Maybe its because we are a much hotter country.
stepped up the a 200 LC for towing,
but had a 2012 and 2010 150 Prado GXL auto diesel in Graphite with Bridgestone D697 A/T. Dobinson C59-300/325 and Bilsteins. Accessories : two baby seats. Sidewinder`s Dual Battery isolator and rear power outlet kit. Pirana Battery tray, Hayman Reese towbar with Toyota wiring kit and Brains`s guard.

I think is more to do with our poor fuel.
