  • replacement bushes...

    Hi Guys

Been given a quote by Pedders to do my front and rear bushes.
What is a reasonable price and are pedders up to scratch?

    Should I be looking elsewhere.?

I paid somewhere around $800 I think it was, to get the following done:
        • A arm bushes - Toyota
        • Top and bottom ball joints - Non genuine
        • Inner and outer tie rod ends - Non genuine
        • Sway bar D bushes plus link bushes - Nolothane
        • Rack bushes - Nolothane
        • Front shocks
        • F Shock top plate - Non genuine
        • Rear shocks
        • Wheel alignment

It was labour only as I supplied all the parts.

It was about 2 years ago from memory so prices would be a bit more now I guess.

Stay away from Pedders as my mate works there and they will tell you anything as they have a quota to get and the manager gets a bonus at the end of the month.

I've heard it said (jokingly, maybe) that you can take a brand spanker to Pedders and they'll still quote you for $1100 worth of repairs

I've had a lot of trouble with Pedders.
Spent a shit load on replacing all bushes, steering rack, wheel alignment, front brake rotors + pads, brake bleed and more.

              Results-
              1/ Brakes were spongy
2/ Nolathene bushes disintegrate in the bush
3/ When replacing the lost bush, alleged mechanic failed to notice the pile of grease right in front of it from a split CV boot. I saw it instantly when checking their work the next day.
4/ My front sway bar was spaced down with a couple of 20mm nylon spacers to compensate for the 2" lift. Pedders failed to advise me that there were no nylock nuts fitted when they changed the bushes. Nylon compresses, nuts undo and fall off, clamp disappears into the bush, sway bar falls down.
5/ Pedders swapped around the front sway bar mount clamps. There is a L and R stamped onto them and the mounting holes are quite different. Alleged mechanic still managed to get them wrong. I only found this after loosing one of the clamps and having to remove the entire sway bar as Toyo do not have this part in Oz and no local wrecker has them either.

And still 6 months of warranty to go...

I would most emphatically recommend my neighbors cat do the job for you rather than let Pedders anywhere near your car.

One of my mates bought a Camry from an auction with 30k on the clock and when took it Pedders for the RWC, they wanted $1350 to give the RWC saying million things needs to be fixed.

Frustrated that a toyota dealer did the last log book service month ago (acording to the book), he took it to that toyota dealer to have a word.

They checked the car and said nothing pedders have quoted needs to be done. When toyota service manager confronted pedders on behalf of my mate, After a long hold the manager said sorry it was the wrong car. Go figure !!!
