  • Fuel consumption increase after suspension lift

Gday guys just wondering what increases in fuel consumption everyone had after lifting their rig. I've come from the dark side(gu patrol) and am looking at a d4d 120 however would like to get a bit more height but would like to know some real stats as the fuel economy was one of the driving points that have pushed me towards the prado ( currently averaging 25l/100kms on the gu patrol)

Ps great site there is some awesome info you guys put together

You could lift it 9 foot and still use less fuel than the GU by the sound of it. I didn't notice any fuel usage difference lifting mine 45mm. I have heard if you lift the rear more than the front the car constantly heads down hill making consumption heaps better?

Seriously, 25/100 thats insane. I was pushing 48 tonne up and down the highway today and only used 51/100.

With a 2" lift, larger tyres and a roof rack I get 15/100 towing my camper trailer (120 D4D), was 14/100 before the roof rack. Increase due to lift will me minimal.

        Cheers Andrew

I noticed maybe just under an extra litre/100ks after my lift, will add up over the long run but as it's buried in the extra incurred by hauling the bulbar, awning, rock sliders and whatever around not really an issue IMO.

          Cheers

Thanks guys helps heaps I went from 17l/100k to 25l/100k just by a lift bullbar winch and roof rack however it was a petrol gu. Went to Fraser last year with a mate with a d4d from Melbourne I stopped to fill every 300-400 Klm's he got to the gold coast in one tank. I then decided that a prado was for me!
