I attempted this for the first time just a few weeks ago.
A little daunting because I've never done it before and it's on a car that is quite pricey to fix.
    What model is yours?

    I have a 120 d4d.
I unbolted the filter from its mount, un-hooked the plugs from the filter and then flipped it upside down and bolted it with one nut back to its mount. The tricky bit was getting the water sensor ( the white screw in thingy) on the bottom off. I had to improvise and a set of vice grips got this loose without damaging the sensor. The filter itself was easy to undo by hand but I have heard of people requiring extra force to unscrew it.
Before fitting the new filter I lubed the rubber seal with some fresh oil very lightly just to seal better.
Fitting is the opposite of removal basically. Once it's all back in place you need to prime the filter and pump. There's a small black plunger ontop of the filter this the primer. Pump it till it fills the filter or it gets hard to press. Then it should fire up just fine.

Don't take any of this as gospel it's just how I done it and I'm sure I have forgotten something not to mention my practices might be a bit off or there's a more correct way to do it.

    Goodluck

        Thanks guys
I did change the fuel filter pretty well the way ROB83R sugested. I went out and purchased a $16.00 filter being "Mr Cheap" thought that will do.
Left that filter in for 1 day, thought about it. Yoda diesel engines not cheap. Mr Yoda have there own filters for a reason. So next day off to spare parts bought a brand spankin new Yoda for my 120 TD. PS when I put it in instructions said do not use any tools to install, just tighten by hand, did same all well. No more cheap nasties for my oilburner. PS ROB83R it's an 06 model fitted with a Grande GPS-sound system.

          Interesting...
To eleviate any possibilties of the Tojo main filter letting any contaminance into my engine (08 1KD/FTV D4D), I installed, upstream of same main filter, a Racor 500FG with a 2010SM (2micron) cartridge. This unit will out-perform the original having a much higher flow rate and with the 2010SM cartridge, a much finer filtration 2Micron as compared to the Tojo's 5Micron specs. Nothing will get past the Racor that the Tojo's wouldn't stop any way.
It is mounted on the firewall just next to the main filter which I retained for the vacuum alarm and as a last resort water alarm. The Racor has its own water alarm. I change the Racor's element every 10000kms but the Tojo only every 50000 or so as a precaution only should it's internals disintergrate. I can fit a cheaper aftermarket one just to fill the hole. As I can depend on the top quality Racor element.
          Michael.

If you want a 2 micron tojo filter, get the D4D part number.
