  • KZ-TE After Market Head

    Hi All,

A mate's KZ-TE is showing all of the signs of a cracked head. I've read all of the posts on cracked heads and the message seems to be, don't get a Toyo head go for a chinese head, but not from ebay as it might be a seconds.

Have any of you had experience with the chinese head, and where around SE Qld is the best place to get one?

    Thanks,
    Foxo.

Thanks ##########, my mate is on his way back from Perth towing his van, he reckons that the motor is going ok but he has to add water every day. He hasn't replied to a few questions that I have asked in an effort to pinpoint his trouble.

    Cheers,
    Foxo.

Are you suggesting that if I fit an auto trans cooler I am less likely to do a head gasket?

I'm sorry, I'm still lost in regards to how an ATF cooler will stop you overheating the head?

          Roo,
Do you suggest the ATF cooler going before or after the radiator in the cooling circuit? Or do you recommend rerouting the ATF completely so it doesn't flow through the radiator at all?

Is the 150 cooler integral to the radiator also? It's 49 degrees outside and car is too far away to look.

To update my mate's problems with water usage on his 1KZ-TE. The head that was on the engine was a replacement head that was bought from Repco. He believed it to be a chinese head that was imported into New Zealand, fitted out there and sent to Australia.
He took the car back to the mechanic when he got home, they had the head crack tested and it was ok but the head gasket was suspect between cyls 3 and 4. The mechanic phoned the suppliers in NZ and they said that there was a batch of faulty gaskets and they would supply a new one. The replacement head gasket was nothing like the old one, they replaced the head and so far, all is good.

              Cheers,
              Foxo.
