  • Injector Timing Out on 2007 D4D

I own a 2007 D4D, and 2000 km before the 90,000 km service the Engine light came on. Referred to the manual which said to take it to a Toyota dealer. Did this and they stated that one of the injectors was out of timing, they rectified it, but said it would only be temporary, as it would reoccur. Is this a common / known fault with the 2007 model, or is this just a one off / bad luck?

    Gday jprucha

Quote: they stated that one of the injectors was out of timing, they rectified it, but said it would only be temporary

Answer: Nice to here a Toyota dealer to finally admit to an injector out of range (Worn injector) and knowing that the fault code will come back after knowingly deleting the code!

I would have thought that they would have been more forward (Honest) .... (a word Toyota needs to Google) and just told you about the injector issues given that you are already out of warranty!

"Priceless".... As in Toyota dropping there guard on there lying denial.

Here is something to read but it is such a loooooooong thread its best so skip through and you will get the picture..... Its such a problem that there was a sticky note just dedicated to it.

Thanks for the response. The Toyota dealer is now going to write to Toyota Australia and see what can be done, even though it is out of warranty.

Just an update...for those interested. Toyota Australia requested our Service Log books (our Prado has only been serviced by Toyota dealers and always within the timeframes/kms required) and after this request have now decided to replace the offending injector (2nd injector) and we only pay $430. Don't know how much it normally costs to have an injector replaced, but sound reasonable to me, considering we are well and truly out of warranty.

Industry standard is to replace ALL injectors as a set. So I would be pushing for that.
