  • Passenger side low beam not working

The passenger side headlight low beam is not working - high beam is ok.

    1. First I thought that the globe and/or fuse must be faulty.
    2. Checked the fuse by switching the left and right headlight fuses – the passenger side low beam was not working.
    3. Took one off the headlight fuses out – suddenly the low beam was working on both lights.
    4. Baffled about this I checked the high beam – it was not working on either side. I decided to put the other fuse in so I was back to where I started.

I am not an expert of the car electronics so I am bit puzzled what is causing this. I am thinking of either problem with the grounding or something to do with the previous owner removing the driving lights and stuffing up the setup.

Hmmm - why not just replace the bulb? - it's probably just blown the low beam filament...

The lights in a 120 are setup in reverse to a "normal" car setup...

Most cars have the common being at zero volts, and when you switch on the lights, the other side of the connection goes to 12 volts.

In the case of the Prado, the common is at 12 Volts, and when you switch on the lights, the other side of the connection drops to zero volts. This could be the cause of your confusion...

Yep. You were spot on. I made a mistake of checking quickly the lights during daytime in the sun and not really realizing they were not operating to the full capacity. Thanks mate.
