I put the chip and exhaust on my hilux with the same engine about 6 months ago. it deff made a difference with power but the fuel economy isn't what they claim. wont be fitting them to the kakadu going to try a beaudesert and steinbauer
2010 Kakadu T/D, Auto, Sahara bar, HID IPF 900s, Beaudesert Exhaust. 2' Bilstein lift, Steinbauer chip, rally X mudflaps, kaymar rear door getup, Cooper AT3 275 65 18 on KMC wheels and bfg km2 285 70 17 on dick cepek torque, safari snorkel, ARB roof rack, dual batts, uhf and brake controller and a bit of other crap.
I have had two of my mates put steinbauer chips in their 79 series one a ute and the other a troopy.
Heaps more power but fuel economy went out the window.
To date i havnt heard of a chip that actually improves fuel consumption, i think this is just an advertising statemnet more than anything
I tend to think that a lot of the time we take advantage of that extra power and use it regularly, this tends to negate the possible fuel economy gain which could be there by using less throttle to maintain the same speed? Never had any luck with my chipping experience and have been reluctant to go with another, my brother raved about his steinbauer and I was going to give it a go in the 150 after he removed it to sell his 120 but he had the old engine, so I missed out there.
