I just got reminded of this & will share it in case anyone finds themselves in the same boat.
Drove into Lake Gregory, got bogged, backed out (after stalling/restarting three times & then having to ride the clutch in low range reverse underwater). Emerged from the swamp with the smell of burning clutch, knee deep in water (inside the car).
Drained her out, dried out all our stuff & continued on the journey. Wasn't til three days later & only 100km from home that the alternator shit itself and we had to get towed in (thanks Bob Talbot). Worst part was that the battery was so low, engine missing, pulled over to swap in the fridge battery & it had also drained so got a jumpstart from a nice couple in.... a Landrover!
Shame shame shame.
Anyway moral of that story is post river crossing it may be of benefit to CRC everything before driving on.
Next problem I didn't notice til several weeks later. Got to a quarter of a tank (half of the second half in the guauge) and the damned thing ran out of fuel. Again on the tow truck, 20l in, fired up no worries, topped it up and with the 20 it only totalled 140 litres. Where was the rest of the fuel hiding?
Found the breather on the fuel line that runs between the two tank - high up above the rear tank under the boot floor. It was fully caked with mud. Cleaned him out no problems since.
