  • Diesel Mis-fuelling Device - Anyone tried it

a bloke at work has told me about a device that fits onto or into filler cap which prevents this.
It is sold by RACQ as a Diesel Mis-fuelling Device, comes from UK.

Wondering if anyone knows much about it, or have tried it, or have opinions about the likelihood of filling diesel tank with unleaded.

I know the consequences are diabolicle, and expensive.

I don't think a diesel nozzle will fit into an unleaded filler but I think an unleaded will fit into diesel.
Some diesel pumps have larger nozzles for trucks and others have smaller.
    regards
    Mal

Its very common people putting petrol in diesel tank. I work for the RAC in Perth and the RAC workshops get at least 10 a week to drain out.

      Cheap but effective!!

I worry most about other people fueling my car, at least this way they have to pull a laminated tag off the fuel cap before removing it. Just printed it up, laminated it, and tied it in with string.
When one of the aftermarket people make a replacement cap, yellow with "Diesel" in bold print I'll bet they will sell a bucket load.

Both my workshops are located next to service stations. We average a job a week at each workshop from people who have filled up accidently with ULP.

Funny Story. Years ago was fuelling up at Three Ways roadhouse, NT. Some ugly, hairy bikie dude suddenly yells out "F...".
He just filled his Harley with diesel! Behind his back, I cracked up.

After riding my motorbike to work for weeks over the summer months and having to fill it up every few days with petrol (small tank), I then took my Landrover Defender on a wet day and stopped at the same petrol station to fill it up. Yes I filler it up with ULP and it was 50 litres in there before I realised what I was doing. Good clothes on under the car draining the tank into 25 litre cans then filled it up with deisel and away I went. Very red faced, dirty and unhappy with myself
