  • fitted new lovells

    Hi, new to forum and need some advise, we fitted new lovells 40mm medium duty to our TD 90 series but noticed back was higher than front (back 805mm - front 775mm) im a bit concerned as we are getting a tjm steel bar fitted next month and dont want the prado looking like a bulldozer, dose anyone have any feed back or same thing happed and solution for this.

    What shocks are you running? The springs may not be suited the height of the spring seat on the struts. A lot of people pair Lovells with Bilstein shocks which have adjustable spring seats.

    Are they specified for Diesel 90 series? If they are MD springs for V6 Petrol models, they would almost be equivalent to soft/comfort springs in Diesel models. Likewise HD V6 springs would be similar to MD Diesel springs.

      Welcome to PradoPoint!
      You may find you need the heavy duty springs being a diesel with steel bar. I've got medium duty lovells in my petrol 90 with a poly smart bar and it sits ok, I'm sure one of the diesel 90 guys will be along shortly to give you some first hand experience.

        They are OME shocks, will that be a problem?

          I'm not sure. The OME strut may have a lower spring seat than a 90 series Bilstein strut. I have OME suspension so I'm no use, but maybe a member with Bilstein (or even original Toyota) struts can take a measurement from the centre of the lower strut bolt to the base of the spring and compare it with the same measurement on your OME strut.

          This could be interesting as I've never heard (that's not to say it hasn't be done) OME shocks being used with other brands of springs.

            Hi all, thanks for the replies, i relised when i took those measurements we only had 1/4 of a tank in the prado so i filled her up with about 100L and she sits 790 back and 780 front, we have been doing a bit of driving lately and the ride is fantastic it handles great i am happy with the OME and lovells combo.
            i also called lovells direct and ARB they both said there is no problems with their suspension products being combined with other brands.
