I have a 02 Prado with 2in lift. When the roads are wet, I get a clunk in the front end, seems to be from the RH side. The noise only happens when you take off, and slow down. It's as if something get wet and moves with acceleration and deceleration. Anyone else has this problem??

It sounds like a failed bush. My guess is the front diff mounting bushes may have perished. In glen_ep's case, they weren't there at all!

EDIT:
Check that the sway bar bolts are tight. I noticed "tinny" clunking sound at the front end and found that the nut that holds the sway bar linkage to the driver's side lower control arm had rattled itself loose.
Then again, if it was the sway bar you would notice it going around corners, and not so much on acceleration and braking.Last edited by williade; 05-11-2011, 07:32 PM.Declan: 1997 GXL 4.5 Auto 80 series on LPG, ARB bullbar, 2" OME lift, 32" MTZ, GME UHF, rear ARB locker, Kaymar spare wheel carrier

Cheers williade, will check them tomorrow, frustrating I'm trying to sell the car, and if it's wet it starts making this noise.2002 GXL Petrol/Gas Auto, 70mm Lovell Lift, Blue Max Skocks, GME TX 3220, Lightforce 240 Blitz, Narva 150, Factory Bull Bar, Sony MP3 Stereo, 38 ltr Engel, Prodigy Electric Brakes, Polyair Air Bags, Bridgestone 265/75 D693. If you have access to some chassis stands/car hoist, I would take the front wheels and the bash plate off and get all of the linkages a good shake. Either by hand or will a lever of sorts, any worn bushes should be easy enough to find that way.
Check for play in the following:
- the diff mounts
- upper and lower control arm bushes
- sway bar mounts and linkages
- steering rack mounts
- upper and lower ball joints
- outer tie rod endsDeclan: 1997 GXL 4.5 Auto 80 series on LPG, ARB bullbar, 2" OME lift, 32" MTZ, GME UHF, rear ARB locker, Kaymar spare wheel carrier
