Been trying to work this one out all week.
Hopped in the Prado which had been sitting idle all day moved it out of the drive to let another car out and noticed an electrical burning smell. Checked the battery to ensure it was OK, but the smell was somewhere in the cabin not under the bonnet.
Symptoms are:
- Power windows only operate from their own door, not master switch (yes I know there is an easy fix, but that hasn't worked)
- When fastening Driver's Seatbelt the interior dome lights, left passenger door light and door open warning light all come on.
- Driver's switch to lock all doors does not work.
- Unlock car using remote key and then open passenger front door, door & dome lights do not come on and 30 seconds later the car locks itself. The system does not appear to be recognising the door has been opened.
- (Update 28/10) Noticed central locking button on door not working
- (Update 28/10) Rear suspension height control not working
- (Update 30/10) Using key (not remote) to unlock doors only opens Driver's door
- (Update 1/11) Door open warning light is now flashing on and off intermittently
- (Update 2/11) Door open warning light no longer illuminates except when doors are open. Still does not work when front passenger door opens.
Everything else seems to be working fine.
Prado was due for a service during the week so they had it for two days including a trip to the auto electricians. it is going back next week for a couple of other tests but the suspicion at my local Toyota place is that the body control module is at fault and this will be replaced under warranty (car is 2 years & 10 months old).
Anyone else seen this problem?
