  • Bluetooth Handsfree in 120 GXL

    Hi All
I did a search for to see if anyone has done this before with no avail.
Im looking to put BT Handsfree in my stock standard 120 GXL. I know some later 120s (grande?) came with a better stereo that has the BT.
My question - is it a simple swap out with one of these?
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ws/eBayIS...#ht_500wt_1243
Any other things (same plug - is mic in the stereo or mounted in dash)
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Ben

I think you hit the nail on the head Ben. The radio should have everything you need to do Bluetooth. Why not ring Toyota to confirm.

That radio on Ebay is exactly what my GXL (2008) has as standard. I can confirm it has BlueTooth which works for my iPhone. Unfortunately no BT connection for music on the iPhone. Instead I use the 3.5mm AUX input socket.

I tried Toyota this morning (Peter Kittle)
The person in spares there said he had no idea, never heard of anyone doing it and then told me a new radio same as current one is $1200, and i should try a wreckers!

I'd be surprised if the main plugs changed over the series of the 120. The microphone is built into the face of the unit. I have the OEM stereo with Bluetooth (like the ebay one) sitting in a box at home which I pulled out of my wife's 09 GXL. If you're in Sydney happy for you to try it. If not then I can take some photos of the rear of the unit so you can try and matchup plug sizes etc. Regards Peter

What a great thread. Was going to pull the dash last night to see how to integrate a bluetooth kit, searched to see if anyone had done it before, only to find this thread. Went out, paired my phone, and ta-daa all done. Awesome.
