  • Rear Work Light Help

Hey guys, I have been looking at wiring up my twin 55w rear work lights off my roof basket already mounted, but I need a little help as I am a noob as an auto sparky try hard but given the right directions can easily do it myself as I have all the tools required.

Here is a image from Leachy (cheers bud) showing a rear lamp circuit but I just need some help with the basic relay hook up diagrams to go with it.... please...
I just need a little help with a couple of points on the diagram. Many thanks in advance any who are willing to help a poor hobbit....

Gooolly (in my best Gommer Pile voice!! Sorry couldn't resist)
The positive for the switch can be any fused source, if you can find 1 near where you mount the switch even better (should be 1 under the dash if your mounting the switch there).
Only need 1 Relay, the drawing shows it split in 2 control side, and Power. Wire from the switch to pin 86 (only needs to be thin wire as the relay only needs a little current to turn it on) and pin 85 goes to negative (any good earth point). The 25A fused feed goes to pin 30, and 87 goes to the red wire on both lights (can run both light from the 1 relay Horn relays are usually rated @ 30A, 55w will draw less than 6A so the 2 is just over 10A) and the 2 black wires (or the mounting bolt if no black wire) to good ground (doesn't need to be same as previous ground)

Think that covers all your questions, but feel free to fire back if still not clear. Good luck and don't forget WE NEED PHOTOS!!!!

You could also consider getting someone that has a career (electrician) in this field to do the work? Won't cost that much and DC is nasty stuff if you are not sure what the go is (insulation burning / possible fire / insurance issues?)

Don't want to put you off, love initiative, but welcome to 4wdriving and its related expenditure!!!!

And in 3 months the $200 will be forgotten, but you will always remember the great job.
