  • US part number check on Bilstein Shocks

I'm in Peru with my nephew visiting me from the states, and I'm looking to save BIG with him bringing me some Bilstein Shocks.

Looking at the Australia Bilstein Dealer site, I see that the part numbers for my 90-series 3-door are:

    BE5 250 Front
    BE5 251 Rear

The dealer in the US says that the REAR part is discontinued and that then new part number is:

    BE5 F332

He also says he will NOT guarantee and will void the warranty as the parts are only for US Trucks and the above parts, even with the same part numbers (on the front at least), will be different.

Is he correct? I have heard that we here in Peru get all our parts from the US, just with a double the price markup due to import taxes.

    Thanks in advance.

Have you tried getting model numbers from a dealer in Peru? That'd be the quickest and safest way to confirm.

The 3rd gen 4runner has the same suspension so the same parts should work, but I have no experience with Bilstein gear so can't guarrantee it. One thing to bare in mind is that the 4runner is lighter: OME parts in australia are quoted to lift the Prado LWB a little under 2", whilst in USA the exact same parts are quoted to be a 2.5"-3" lift on the 4runner. As you have a SWB, it might end up somewhere in the middle - to be sure you'll need to work out the vehicle weights.

Perhaps someone else with Bilstein knowledge can step in...

Yes, got the confirmation from the Peruvian dealer and ordered them.

I'll try and get my mechanic to measure what the difference in lift will be, and report back.

      Thanks for the reply.
