I just got a new pair of driving lights to replace a pair that were damaged. Spent some time wiring them in this afternoon. They wouldn't work when wired up normally but they went when I jumpered them from the battery.
OK so I figured it was probablt the relay. I am 650km from the nearest auto shop but I am not planning to do any night driving before I get to Alice on Friday.
But that wasn't the main problem. When I tried to start the damn thing, all I got was a click. All the indicator lights worked. The headlights would shine brightly so I figured I had sufficent battery to at least turn it over.
Have I done something serious and, more to the point, what can I do? For example, does disconnecting the battery reset everything?
I have to get the car going by Friday to go to Alice Springs.
