Those HID's aren't specific to the Roo Lites but are a generic HID. They do look good though and I would be keen to hear how they go. Would be a good upgrade if they work well. I'd certainly consider it...

What a great price Samo! I couldn't see on the Fleabay site what the wattage & colour intensity of the HID's were (although I did have a bit of a mans look...) I'm unfamiliar with the Roo lites, they look like slimline ballasts so will they fit inside the spotties?

I have the 180XP and did some snooping around a while back. I came across this ebay listing for the globe adaptors
              http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....:X:RTQ:AU:1123

Apparently, there is a bit of work to make the adaptor suit. Here is a reply from the seller of the above adaptor
hello. how are you going. to use these adapters with roo lites, it is a bit of work. quite a bit of meterial has to come off the housing of the light to get the adapter in. i also take a bit off the adapters to make it easier.
when you say about using the old loom, do you mean the power wires to the spotlights. they will have to goto the ballasts. what sort of wattage are you looking at going? i can do you a deal on a kit aswell. i have 35w, 55w, 70w and 100w. 35w is good, 55w is great and 70w is really great. and 100w is very very bright. i don't think it is needed to be honest, but a lot of people like them.
the biggest trouble with the roo lites it taking the meterial out of the housing and getting the wires through the holes. it can be done, it just takes a while.
if you need to know anything else please let me know
              thanks..
From looking at the feedback of the HID kit seller (videogamersclub), there is one buyer (kitto881) who said...
great product, needs to come with the globe holders though
I'm not sure what this guy means by not being HID
They weren't exatly HID especially for Roo lights, and a lot of work is needed
I will be following this post with great interest.

Thanks Samo. The link I originally opened up didnt show me the entire page as it hadn't opened up completely so I couldn't see the specs (Can now)
Great price! (less than a 3rd of the price I paid and that was a good price) It will be interesting to see the quality of the product.

Whats the adaptor they speak about when fitting HIDs to roolights? Its just that the original globes you show look the same as the globes in my Cibie lamps.

                      Thanks

well there is a generic adaptor you can use (they are about $22.50 each) http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....:X:RTQ:AU:1123. i didnt use the adaptors i used the samo approach. drill out the four rivots and pull out the original mount, pull the globe assembly out untill you are left with the mount, grab a 13mm drill and drill the guts of the mount out enough so the globe is a neat fit, i had to cut the plugs off the hid globe to pass the wires straight to the back of the light, when you fit the globe into the mount use some superglue or 5 min araldite generously to fix globe to mount, see pics

fix the mount back into the light post with rivots and solder or crip the plugs back on the end of the globe wires. cheers samo

How have these gone, I put the 55wt hids I to my ipf's and they are brit. I was thinking about converting my lightforce ones over but not as easy, I think it is a similar setup as the roo lights.

                          Regards,
