Hi, wondering if anyone has had similar symptoms or any advice for the following.
I have been having a few issues with my 120 1 KZTE Prado, namely with intermittent lack of power and throttle response.
It started about a month ago when the engine warning light came on and I could not reset it, and the vehicle lost most of its power ie could barely make it up the hill to the auto elec.
The auto spark diagnosed it as a faulty earth connection on the aftermarket cruise (auscar) fitted from new and no problems since I had it.
Not long after it was "fixed" I was driving out of town when the engine light came back on and the vehicle lost power shortly after I put the cruise on.
I pulled over and turned the engine off and then on again which reset the engine light and brought back power. I did not touch the cruise again for that trip and all seemed fine.
I took it back to the auto spark when I got back and he couldn't find anything.
I was then driving, funnily enough straight past the same auto spark one day when the engine lost some power and throttle response and appeared sluggish but not as bad as the first and second time, and no warning light. So I pulled straight into the auto elec. He disconnected the cruise and connected some fly wires to put the vehicle back to standard trim without the cruise connected to see if the problem persisted.
Well I think it is still there. Occaisonally I feel a lack of power and throttle response, not major but there. The lack of response appears most obvious straight off of idle when usually it is crisp and virtually instant, it sometimes now feels like there is some hesitation. The power doesn't quite seem to be there either. Another symptom that I think is there is that sometimes the engine seems to over run when I depress the clutch to change gear and I have taken my foot off the throttle.
I have had a roo systems chip installed for a few months now, I'm not sure if it has anything to do with this.
I have previously posted as well about a whirring noise coming from the fuel pump side of the motor, this is also intermittent and no one here in Adelaide has been able to pin point it although they agree that it sounds similar to a faulty solenoid or something. I am now wondering if this is linked with my current issue.
I am now wondering if it has something to do with the spill control valve or something like that in the fuel pump????
Any advice would be hugely appreciated.
Cheers
