Yep, complained at the last service about it and now nice and quite again. Just hit 16000km service and they did the 20k service. Not sure what the issue was but, forgot to ask sorry.-----------------------

Just had a read....yikes....17,000 and no probs yet (touch wood) on my march 2010 build 150. I can't believe they let the problem roll over to the 150, surely the later build 150's have the right injectors?
Given more than 80% of 150's sold are diesel, surely this will be bigger than Ben Hur (as they say) before to long if this is true?Last edited by Riv39; 27-06-2011, 01:16 PM.2010 150 Glacier White GXL D4D Auto

AARGH...... Surely not... I got rid of the 120 as mileage was building and concerned over this injection issue. I understood it was the injector copper washers failing allowing gases to leak into and contaminate fuel causing oil sludge to block oil sump strainer and hence major engine failure, if not caught early enough.
Someone please tell me 150s have the proper aluminium washers....

Well it would appear Toyota Aus is playing games again and refusing to acknowledge this issue. I know of somone who complained recently about the rattle and Toyota Aus not only refused to change the injectors out but also refused to even send a tech out to the dealer to listen to them. Given this and the potential engine failure issue (injector related) I'm getting nervous about holding on to the car past warranty.2010 150 Glacier White GXL D4D Auto

Riv, if what you're saying is true (I have no doubt it is), that's bloody ridiculous. Surely if it's bad enough the Dept of Fair Trading should be involved? Can it be proven conclusively that this will not be an issue ongoing?Jim

Posted this over in the 120 series area and thought I would repeat it here for all 150 owners.
I spoke with a neighbour the other day with a 03 prado D4D with 138k on the clock who has had no injector issues ever. Services his Prado every 5k but no additional fuel filter changes outside of the book requirements and he doesn't care where he buys his diesel (what manufacturer that is).
Just lucky or what?2010 150 Glacier White GXL D4D Auto

Well I asked him if it was the D4D and he said yes...possible he doesn't know I guess. Can you tell from any stickers on the outside of the car?
Edit: Thanks for the clarification Davros, I note that the D4D started around November 2006. I'll get him to check his build date but it would seem he does have the old motor.Last edited by Riv39; 19-10-2011, 12:03 PM.2010 150 Glacier White GXL D4D Auto

In Australia it started to appear in late 2006 assuming you are referring to the common rail D4D which is the 1KD-FTV engineLast edited by Riv39; 29-10-2011, 04:26 PM.2010 150 Glacier White GXL D4D Auto

I am very particular where I go, in fact I use only one BP service station (Pennant Hills Rd Thornleigh) as they have high flow diesel pumps which means trucks fill up there which in turn means high turn over and hopefully fresher diesel.Last edited by Riv39; 03-11-2011, 11:26 AM.2010 150 Glacier White GXL D4D Auto
