My 2003 120 diesel GXL has now clocked over 200.000k and I wish to check the tappet clearance, I thought that they were hydraulic tappets and wouldn't need checking, but apparently they do. Can anyone advise me on how to do it.

They are adjusted via shims.
Try searching this site with Google, I'm sure this is covered in a couple of threads.

Thanks MickL, your knowledge of the Forum and of the Prado is an asset to people like me, I'll have a go at checking the tappets now.
Cheers,
Foxo.
