Good evening everyone, I'm looking for some advice to a problem, I have a set of lightforce HID driving light that were working fine. I purchased a set of philips H4 HID's conversion kit to replace the old globes. The headlight seem to work fine but my driving lights are now not working checked the fuse and all is ok. The 4wd guy who installed them said sometime about Prado's being wired negativitaly. He lost me as I'm not electrically minded. Has any one has the same problem and might be able to tell me what's wrong. Regards. The Gibeno.

Hi The Gibeno
I have to make a few assumptions here but here goes!
Were the Lighforce triggered when you switch to high beam?
Do you have a switch to isolate the Lightforce? Is it switched on?
If the answer is yes to both then I would assume the the Lightforce lights used the high beam wires at the globes to trigger the relay to power the Lightforce.
If this is the case then when your "4WD guy" installed the HID into your regular lights he has removed/broken/not replaced the trigger wire.
"Prado's being wired negativitaly" thats a stupid statement, to blame the car, he should know what hes doing.
A few assumption here just based on how they would normally be wired and there is absolutely no reason that they cant all work.
Hope this helps but havent got a lot to go on.Last edited by 1coolbanana; 05-06-2011, 12:18 AM.Marc, 2003 Grande V6, Just a Bit of Stuff Done..........Work in progress.

G'Day Gibeno.
Hey Mate had same drama, fitted HIDs & then pow spotties didn't work, after a lot of fault finding & head scratching worked out that HIDs don't draw enough current to pull in relay for Spotties. I came by this as I fitted original globe into spare holder (RH on my set up) & spotties worked. To overcome having a H4 dangling under the bonnet I grabbed a Festoon 5W globe of an old trailer, soldered some wires & spade connecter to the ends & fitted that into High Beam terminals on spare (RH) connector. yee har all good now, slight glow from globe but no heat to speak off.
One thing I did notice is taht now I need some HIDs for the spotties because the headlights now are almost better the spotties.
Here is a link I posted before http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...-diagram/page5
Hope this all makes sense.
Cheers.

Gibeno,
In the olden days the headlights were driven with positive switching, ie
when you turned on the headlight switch it switched 12V positive to light the
bulb. Same for high beams, the common point of both bulb filaments had negative
behind it. In the prado they switch negative with positive behind common point
of the filament, the reverse to the norm.

Sorry. Badly worded!
What I meant was its a stupid statement because they guy is blaming it on being negatively switched.
Hes doing one job while wrecking another and blaming the Prado!Marc, 2003 Grande V6, Just a Bit of Stuff Done..........Work in progress.
