  • LED Interior lights

Has anyone found a kick-a$$ LED light set that easily replaces the pathetic globes for the interior light and reading lights at the front (between the sunvisors)

The centre interior light is a small bulb that doesn't accept the majority of the LED's on offer.

I recently did this in my camper van. Make sure that you use "warm" leds which give out a more natural light, the blue/white ones put out a horrible light.

I'd like to do the same on my 150 but haven't figured out how to remove the covers

For the most part the interior light covers are clip in - with a little care and minimal force they should pop out if a gap can be found... I believe someone has tried and posted, but no photos I think...

As for the actual lamps though, I know www.springers.com.au has a range of LED replacements... Not sure on quality though as I've not purchased them previously...

yep the best lights are the "LED warm White" ones. the neon or zenon etc leds make the car look like a dentist surgery.
The even spread of light in the cabin is perfect, so much better than the standard halogens. I used the ones below.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1pc-31mm-...item2eb55402c7 These are for the main & rear cabin lights
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2pcs-BA9S...item2c5ccdc4fd These are for map lights, a very tight/fidley fit, persist
Never had a problem with this seller

I've replaced the lot in mine including door lights.

I went the "Cool White/6000K" ones, they throw light a better distance than the 3000k/warm white ones, good enough that the rear roof one acts as a basic camp light when the doors left open (its a 24 smc LED board).

I got the lot from Jaycar.

Someone's pinched my 2011 Jaycar catalogue

Looking on their website, for the festoon lights, zd-0480 (33mm) and 0482 (41mm) don't exist anymore as they do in my 2008 catalogue (I hate their search function), but part ZD-0481 looks like it may fit for the main and rear cabin (31mm) at a cost of $16.95, and 0484 for $12.95. I haven't verified this of course but also looking at upgrading my interior lights.

Maybe Ebay is the go, much cheaper.

                            by the way

Hi Fellas. I found a direct replacement LED festoon lamp for the rear of my 90 prado at Dick Smiths and for the centre lamp which had a different set up I brought an LED replacement kit which had the complete backing plate from Repco - which I had to modify slightly to fit. Both lamps are cool blue and don't worry me at all. 'Twas worth the effort though as I can now leave my door ajar for weeks and still start the prado in the morning. Cheers.
Contrary to popular belief, the lamps do get hot! They are also polarity sensitive.
