  • Rallye 4000 Spot losing Focus

Has anybody had or heard about a Hella Rallye 4000 Spot losing focus?

Instead of a good pencil beam, with sharp focus way down yonder (it was like this for the first 3-4 months); it now just gives a perfect circle about 10m diameter 50-75m in front of vehicle.

The bulb is setting correctly in the housing and tight. Took it back to where I purchased the lights, and they just scratched their heads, said that they have never heard of this problem and said it could not happen. They also checked the seating of the bulb, with no change.

I've had my 4000s for about 8 years and pulled them off my 98 when I bought the 09 and they have never given me any dramas. Mine are now fitted with HID globes and working fine although I think they would be better with 2 spots rather than one spot and one spread. You don't have any moisture inside or a bulb that's covered in grime or on it's way out.

I have 3 on mine and no issues like that? Maybe replace bulbs and see what happens..

Thanks Piggy and Bushbasher for your replies.
        But still no joy...
Swapped the bulbs over last night. Both bulbs look spotlessly clean and moisture free. Swapping the bulbs made no difference. The spread beam I have still performed the same. The spot beam gives a good spread beam (not a spot beam) except for the large concentrated circle around 10m wide starting from 10-15m from front of vehicle (I got some of the measurements wrong last time).
Does anybody have a photo of what the light from the spot should look like?
I will also try and take a photo myself.

I've had my Hella Rallye 4000s for over 7 years now and have not had any issues. I had it on my old 90 Series and have put it on the 120 and the light produced is still very good.

From your description it sounds like you need to adjust your spot beam. Maybe I've misunderstood your description but are you now seeing the light from the spot focused on the road ahead of you? If so, try adjusting the light up a bit and see if that fixes you problem.
