Hi All
I'm looking at getting a set of seat covers for my prado and I'm wondering if anyone has got a set of MSA or Toyota covers for their car. If so, are you happy with the fit, feel, quality ect.. Any comments or suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I've got the genuine Toyota Covers. Purchased them at the same time I boughtthe car new along with a host of other gear. The Toyota covers are fine. Theconsist of a main strip that covers the majority of the cover that you sit onalong with two small strips on the sides (pretty much the same in appearance asthe MSA except the colours swap around on the MSA). The main strip is a woven fabricand the weave is reasonably tight although it looks loose but I can imaginethat grit particles will make there way through the weave and sit between theseat cover and seat. The covers sit nice and tight so there is no loosematerial hanging around although to hold them in place a combination of zipsand Velcro are used. The zips will unzip somewhat over time and the visible Velcrolooks pretty daggy but there is only a few areas where it is visible.

My vehicle is about 6 years old and they are not showing any problems andhave been on the entire time. No tears or holes, but a slight amount of wear onthe seats where you sit but I guess that should be expected over time. If youare just doing city driving then I can't see an issue with the Toyota covers althoughif I did things again I would probably look at a canvas cover. MSA are Canvascovers and there are a number of different manufacturers around for Canvas:MSA, Black Duck, Dingo, RM Williams, Canvas Seat Cover Co.

Whoever you go with my advice would be to make sure you get a seat coverthat is designed for your vehicle rather than a generic "fit anyvehicle" cover as the generic covers will be baggy and loose. The canvascovers will never be fully taut anyway but if you get them specific to youvehicle then they will look good and fit properly.

We have the MSA covers on both thee front and rar seats in the prado and the fit and comfort is second to none we have also purchased the addirional add on lumber support for the front seats from MSA and tha has improved the prado front seats on long trips with the benefit of being bale to alter and adjust the lumber 'ballons' at will to suit changes in the day. We have balck duck seat covers (again canvas) in the colorado and they are like chalk and cheese compared to the MSA covers. MSA are a soft coton canvas and fit the seat perfectly whilst the balck ducks are pretty stiff canvas on form to themselves as opposed to forming to fit the seat. Both have there places in the sheme of things but given both cost about the same in the long run would go MSA all the way.

Wetseat make a wet suit/neoprene seat cover also, available via TJM. I have just switched over to a set last week after some cheapo cloth ones. I believe they do custom fit as well as general fit covers.

X 2 for the MSA covers. They are a pain in the arse to fit, but they are gold.

I installed these custom made seat covers which I purchased from ebay for $200 delivered. It's a full set for front, middle and rear seats. I am very happy with the fit on the seats and have had quite a few comments from friends about how good they look. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TOYOTA-PRADO-CAR-SEAT-COVERS-3ROWS-150-series-11-2009on-/360365556744?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item53e7760408

I have had Toyota covers on my hilux and MSA on my Prado, both are fine but I noticed the MSA are not as cold on a chilly morning and abit easier to clean marks off.

My 2 cents,

Thanks for all the advice guys. Im going to have a look at the wetsuit material ones tomorrow (thanks JoshF) and the msa ones. The only thing that puts me off the MSA ones is the cost (I got quoted about $450 for the front set), but from all the replys they seem more than worth it. Decisions Decisions......

I have black duck on my back seat. Nice snug fit and provision for the middle arm rest to operate correctly. No complaints here.

After some thinking and searching I have gone a different way. I had a good look at the MSA and Black duck canvas covers and while their quality is great I felt I wanted a cover that looks and feels more OEM. Inland Australia (who make the wetseat covers) manufacture a lot of custom seat covers for Toyota and a few other car makers, so they are airbag compatiable. While they cannot supply exact the colour scheme as the dealers covers (supplier agreements) the tell me the quality is the same. They stated they could make a set for me using the colour scheme that they use for the 200 series covers. They are quite a bit cheaper than toyota at $185 and after the sales people sent me a couple of pics I thought id give them a try. They will take a couple of weeks to get, and i'll post up my opinion after i get them. Thanks for all the help guys.

Hi Dart,
Do they supply for all the three rows or just the two rows for the $185 price?
Thanks,

i thought it was $185 for each pair of seats, so for the whole vehicle 3*$185

The $185 is just for the front seats. From Toyota they were from $250 - $275 depending on which dealer I got prices from.

I have fitted MSA seat covers to the 2nd row of my 150 series and I am very happy with the quality and fit, they were not hard install either.

I have heard a few horrow stories about the genuine Toyota covers when trying to fit

I just got a reply from Inland about the seat covers. Apparently due to high demand the seat overs are still a couple weeks away.

Fitted mine a few days ago, very very nice. Front and rear $730 with a bit of haggling from TJM.

Finally got my covers delivered on Wenesday. I fitted them yesterday and i couldn't be happier. The fit is fantastic, although it is a bit of a battle to get the covers on. They are the same as the toyota genuine ones. (came with the genuine instructions and packaging) Will post up some pics next week.

Has anyone bought Black Duck seat covers for a 150 recently?

From reading their web page it appears that it is $473 for the front pair and $473 row 2. Total of $946....

Is that right or am I reading the price list incorrectly?

I was going to give them a call however if that is the price I think I will be wasting their time.

The black duck seat covers are very expensive, they're extremely hard wearing but not particularly comfortable.
I now have the MSA covers, they're comfortable (gf doesn't complain) and see to be hard wearing.
The toyota seat covers are rubbish, I went through three seats in as many weeks, they kept splitting along the seams...

Go with the MSA, got my Prado last week after a long wait - handed over last Friday with Toyota seat covers as MSA were going to take too long, already had a 3 week fitout, anyway by the Sat had sent an email and the Prado is back with them until they get them on!

MSA are that much better

Msa is a great car seat cover. Words of warning though. Instructions could of been written with a bit more clarity and detail. Few pics might of helped as they are a pain in the a#se to fit and for my 150 series had to remove the rear seats which you don't realize till You open the box which then becomes a 2 man job.
