  • Intermittent engine warning light

    I have a 2004 3lt 279,000kms Auto gx

    This is puzzling to me.
My engine warning light comes on when I leave the Prado parked on an angle for a period of time.
Due to parking space limitations at home I had to leave the prado parked on an ~30 degree angle for a number of weeks, it was not used during this time.
I then moved it and noticed the warning light on, as I was in a rush and I was not using it at the time I left it to come back to. After I returned from my admin activities I went to investigate the warning light only to discover it was no longer “on”.
I returned the prado back to the angled parking spot and thought nothing more of it, until about 3 days later I went to use it and the warning light was on again???
I again moved it a to a flat position and again the light went out, so I thought maybe I have a fluid level issue, so I checked, oil, auto trans, water, brake, steering all were good???
But this time after leaving it flat for a 48 hrs the warning light remained on. Bugger so I am thinking time to take it back to Toyota and bend over. I go see the finance minister and was told to wait.
So whilst waiting for the $$$ I thought I would ask you guys for your thoughts
    Cheers

See if any fault codes are being stored in the ECU's memory.

The codes and proceedure are outlined in this thread:

    Diesel ECU fault codes

No worries, Good luck with it. Let's hope it's an easy fix and you don't need to go to a workshop.
