well i changed the radiator and was a very straight forward job, took about 2h, geez they put some bolts in some stupid stops, didnt go with the toyota radiator, they wanted about $600ish, opted for aftermarket 1 at $420, i think this must have been the 2nd radiator in this cause it was a late model radiator, well ive had the car since sept 07 and it lasted the 5 years i had it, lost 2 litres of coolant last week so it was well overdue. heres a few pics

That looked pretty bad.
I find they can develop small leaks after about 5 years.
If you change coolant, and use Toyota stuff, (there are 2 Types don't mix) every 3 years it may last much longer
Problems often start when Owners/workshops use other brands/types and have not got all the old stuff out.
Mixing different coolants can create a chemical reaction that will look like those pics......
I don't use NULON RED!
TOYOTA RED OR PINK for whichever Toyota I'm servicing

they are usually packed pretty well...... IMO you would have to throw it pretty hard to break it.

If you replace the radiator, it would be worth replacing the radiator cap. If you get excess pressure in the system and the cap dosn't release coolant to the overflow bottle, it will eventually find other weak spots to leak out of. Radiator side tank baskets are generally the weak spot if the hoses don't burst first.2019 GXL, Bullbar, UHF, Redarc Brake Controller, Tow Bar, Secondary Fuel Filter
