  • Roo Systems Power Chip & exhaust

I know there is a few threads on power chips & exhausts but nothing on the roo system.

    www.4wdchip.com.au

Has anyone fitted a Roo chip & 3" exhaust (Roo design) to the 3L TD.

The cost given to me from the blokes at Roo Systems for the Power Chip and 3" exhaust was a bit over $3000 and its a DIY install.

After reading many of the other threads on power chips I'm a bit unsure of which way to go.

Any info on the Roo systems with regards to the 3L TD would be muchly appreciated.

    Cheers Budgie

    Bit pricey....

Chip - $1300ish say a DP or Tunit,

Beaudesert exhaust with dump pipe $1000

    EGR disable - free DIY

Uni/Finer filter $80 or $120 inc spare filter foam and cleaning kit.

Dyno tune chip to exhaust .... maybe $200 - $300 depending on whats involved with the chip you choose and time on dyno. You'd expect a before after print out with this too.

Mick makes a good point however I believe the Roo exhaust is stainless, so not comparing apples with apples.
Which brings me to a question. Stainless or mild steel? Which is best. Mild steel is obviously cheaper but maybe stronger? SS will last longer but is it more likely to fracture? Any thoughts out there from people that have installed bigger exhausts?

Hulbyw, you current have a mild steel exhaust (assume you still have the original). It has obviously lasted you since the vehcile was new in 2004. I will also assume you have no issues with it other than being restrictive.

Well I'll be darned. Just went out and did the magnet test and yes, it appears to be mild steel. Always thought it was SS as I also have a 2004 Commodore and Holden have been using SS for years.Have been quoted $900 for a mild steel 3" exhaust from a local exhaust shop or $1100 for mild with a SS muffler. Probably go the mild steel. Thanks heaps Schaffer for pointing that out. Goes to show assumption is the Mother of all stuff ups

I'm sure when I got the information on the Roo system it was a 409 SS exhaust.
