  • Dual Battery Tray

I have selected a Dual Battery Setup on my 2009 GLX 3L TD and was informed by ARM & TJM in Cairns that when the secondary battery is located under the bonnet (front Drivers side void space, just behind radiator) there has been issues with the Guards cracking.

They suggested the secondary battery be located behind the main. That would mean relocating the Fuel filter ect.

Has anyone had or heard of the guards cracking when the secondary battery is located in the void space front drivers side under the bonnet.

    Regards,

    Budgie

    I've never heard of it...
I have been doing research myself for a dual battery setup, and I dont want them behind the other.

If you use the search feature - there are a few threads that cover this...
The guard cracking has been an issue with the 120 - but no definitive proof that it is directly related to the factory second battery location!

There are posts in the 120 electrical section on this. Use search and you will find. ARB have a smaller try located towards the rear of the engine bay on the passanger side but I have tray on driver side at front without cracking. As long the the battery try is strong and robust enough to securley hold the battery in place then you should not have issues but do some searching on the forums and read that for more.

          Cheers for the help.

I did a search but didn't locate the thread.

I guess information from end users with their issues will make my mind up.

The Battery tray I am looking at is the piranha brand and seams very strong.

I just typed guard cracking into the search tool (either will work) and the first thread/link returned was:

              Cheers,

I was searching all info on Battery setups etc.

Will have a good read and hopefully it will answer my questions.
