  • Lift Measurements, What's yours??

ok, So i'm not sure what my current lift is, and wanna find out what i'm dealing with, I also might go higher, as the suspension seems to be sagged.
Now, how do I measure the prado's height? Someone once told me it was measured from the hub to the bottom of the wheelarch, is this true??
Post your height measurements, and the way you measured it too to compare!!

Great idea, we need some specs for the suspension guide sticky anyway. We measure from the bottom of the 16" rim to the wheel arch. I'll measure mine when I get home.

Yes you can do it that way, however it can be out by a couple of mm, the best and easiest spot is from the centre underside of the guard to the bottom of the wheel rim.
One thing to also remember is that the drivers side should always be around 5mm more than the passenger side of the vehicle, it should never be flat. And the rear of the vehicle must be higher than the front so there is a slight rake towards the rear of the vehicle.

        Here's my approximate measurements...
        Front right: 776 mm
        Front left: 776 mm
        Rear right: 794 mm
        Rear left: 798 mm

        And approximate articulation...
        Front right compressed: 677 mm
        Front left droop: 820 mm
        = Front travel: 143 mm (~5.5")
        Rear right droop: 1026 mm
        Rear left compressed: 572 mm
        = Rear travel: 454 mm (~18")

        That's with OME mediums...
        - OME 2881 coils with 90004 struts
        - OME 2890 coils with 60028 shocks
And the vehicle load was light

          Re: Lift Measurements, What's yours??

Glen, those are the height measurements of a 2in lift?

          Mine are:

Front Right: 780mm (it was pretty hard to measure as i'm currently missing this flare, so it should be a couple of millimeters less)
          Front Left: 776mm
          Rear Right: 778mm
          Rear Left: 775mm

I'm guessing my rear coils have sagged, as the truck weighs 300kg more than stock, and the suspension was installed around 4 years ago. Don't really know what coils i've got as the front ones are red and the rear black, but I know i've got OME coilovers and shocks.

Has anybody have the stock height measurements for the 90 series??

Excuse my ignorance but why do you not measure from the edge of the guard to the ground.
            Cheers

Yes, but lifts aren't exactly 2" - they can be anything from 30mm to 70mm depending on the duty, vehicle load, and perhaps some production tolerances. Mine's not heavy duty, and it's weighed down by a steel bar - the result is not super high but it does flex quite easily.

Another post quotes originals as 745mm and 755mm, so yours must be lifted already. viewtopic.php?f=21&t=1248&start=0#p13575

Because in that case, we'd get different results due to different tire models, sizes and pressures. The other way, we're only measuring the suspension (assuming the rims are equal).

                Another 2in lift,

                F/R 805
                F/L 800
                R/R 790
                R/L 794

Draws and gear in the back and 40lt water.
Not sure of original weight but got the car over the rubbish tip scales the other day, 2500kg, heavier than I thought it would be.
