  • Battery Charger

    Guys,

I'm in the market for a battery charger. The options I've come across for a $200 budget are a Ctek 7A, Projecta Intelicharge 7A, 10A, 15A, Repco 16A or an 16A Ozcharge.

I'll be using the charger to occasionally recondition my cranking battery as well as charge my auxilary marine wetcell before and after trips. Any thoughts on which way to go? What are you experiences with these chargers?

    Thanks,
2019 GXL, Bullbar, UHF, Redarc Brake Controller, Tow Bar, Secondary Fuel Filter

    Re: Battery Charger

I think a deciding factor would be the size (in amphours) and type of your batteries you are charging. That is what I was advised when purchasing mine anyway.
Out of the brands you've named, I've only used Ctek. I use it to charge up my 115ah AGM and two smaller 7ah AGMs. The only problem I've had with the Ctek is that it runs really hot like so hot that it's too hot to touch at times. Apparently this is normal as it is a compact unit. I've been using it for over a year, and no problems as yet. I've had at least 50 charge cycles on it already. Check out the ctek website, they have guides as to what batteries suit the chargers they supply.

      Re: Battery Charger

I have a Ctek 3600 and 7000, they are both great, the 7000 has a recondition setting that I used to get my Calcium battery fully charged. I have no problem with Ctek however if I was buying again I'd buy the Projecta 15.

          ctek all the way.
i have the 15000, and it never gets hot, i had it set-up to charge 5 batteries (3 in-car and 2 in camper) and it never had an issue. now sold camper, but it proves it has the goods.
