Just wondering if anyone can help me here.
My 1KZ turbo diesel engine is still laying in pieces at my local Toyotal Dealership, with serious engine drama. There are a few puzzles I am trying to solve, including:
1) For some reason there was masking tape over the engine number stamped on the engine block. Has anyone else ever noticed this on their 1KZ motor?
2) As strange as this may sound, a specialist cyclinder head examiner, and my usual local mechanic reckon it looks like my engine has had a re-bore before!! I bought the thing new? Can anyone suggest a scenario why it would look like the surface inside the bore has been machined previously???
