  • rear fog light switch

Bought a Toyota rear fog light switch part ref 84162A but cant get it to work. Auto electrician says there is no wiring for the actual switch in the vehicle. Solution he says is to buy an after market latching switch which he says will present no problems.

Went back to Toyota dealer in UK who say the above part is the correct switch, the vehicle is not factory prepared for rear fog lights so no wiring for switch and no led in instrument cluster.

Also asked them if they had any other switches that might fit in the blank switch space but, was told they didnt know !!!!

To resolve this does anyone know where I can get a switch with indicator lamp when on suitable for a Toyota Prado 08 model.

    Help and advice appreciated.

GB you should be posting this in the correct area (120 electrical).
guessing but the switch you have is a momentary switch (push in and it pops back out, doesn't stay in).
to use that switch you need to wire it up as per factory, as it runs of the body ECU.
there are not many switches that will fit into the 120's switch holes without modications.
i have all my switches replaced with Carling switches, but you need to ever so slightly file the holes on the back of the panel.
if i wish to remove my switches, the toyota blanking plate will refit and you can't see any of the filing as you don't file the switch surround hole.
